Monday - Spiritual Striving - Luke 13:24
There is a battle going on within us over the right way and an easier way. In Sunday's scripture it said that few are those who find the right way. Here in Luke, it is stated that many may try to enter in but not be able to because they tried to enter by an easier route than the way of love and obedience. Jesus told the people to make every effort to find and enter through the narrow or right door, so that they will gain access into His presence and know His peace.
Tuesday - Evil Way - Isaiah 59:8
The same prophet who spoke for God about John the Baptist coming to make straight the path or way for the Lord Jesus Christ to come, also states that many will try to make that straight path or way crooked by not seeking the true peace of God, or by corrupting the justice set by God for all people, or turning the paths that lead to God, or Christ, into a path that is crooked or evil. Isaiah warned Israel that anyone who walked in such paths would never know peace or the Prince of Peace.
Wednesday - The Wicked - Philippians 3:17-19
Paul tries to encourage the Philippians to follow the path that he walks because he was walking the pathway of Christ. Yet even with such an example by both Christ and Paul, there were those who chose to walk a different way and we seen as enemies of the very Savior who died on the cross for them. This is that way that leads to destruction of what could have been a fruitful life of joy peace and fellowship with God. These enemies were the ones who lived to satisfy their own selfish desires, the appetites (their stomachs). Paul says that all they thought about were the things of this world and nothing about God, our Savior Jesus Christ, or the peace that comes through a life of walking with Him.
Thursday - Sin Destructive - Romans 7:11
In Sundays message we heard and read that the crooked, wide gate and path leads to destruction because it makes its way through sinful living, the crooked way. Paul even confessed that at one point in his life sin had taken advantage of him leading him down that path which ends in death, spiritual death. He was deceived to think that path was the right way, but yet it was robbing him of all that God's word had promised as the rewards of fellowship with God. He had to come to the point of dying out to the destructive way and give himself fully to the path that is straight and narrow and leads to the wonders of the Lord.
Friday - Few Saved - Matthew 22:11-14
As Jesus Christ came closer to the end of His earthly ministry, He taught in such a way to get the people looking for the great time of feasting around God's table in heaven. He told of a wedding feast that had a person in it that was not willing to truly prepare himself to be at such and honored place, at such a wondrous occasion. Jesus says that the king or host of the feast walked over to the man and confronted him about his lack of preparation and the man was speechless (he had no excuse). The king had the man bound and thrown out because of his lack of obedience to the invitation. The king represented the same God who said sacrifices are okay but I long for a people who will come in obedience with contrite hearts.
Saturday - Eternal Life - John 3:36
Jesus begins this statement in verse 36 with the glad pronouncement that everyone who believes in the Son of God will have eternal life with Him, beginning with the moment of true faith and continuing throughout time. But everyone who does not believe or lives the evil, wicked way will not even see life as it ought to be, for there will be something missing and something burning against him.. .God's wrath for those who chose to live as His enemy.
