Sunday - Purpose of the Word - John 20:31
In both his gospel and his letters, John lets us know the purpose for writing these important words down about the eternal life that can be granted to us through faith in Jesus as the Christ. John says that there were a lot more that could have been written but that the purpose of writing what has been written is that the Word would bring us to the point of believe in Jesus and so have everlasting life; and so, to live that life in a right relationship with Him without sins coming between us ( a life led by His Spirit).
Monday - Christ's Intercession - Romans 8:34
Paul, like John, tells us of the work of Jesus interceding on our behalf to God. Even though Paul calls Christ the judge, Paul explains that just as Jesus was raised from the dead after taking upon Himself the sins of the world, we are raised to live life apart from our sins when we live like we believe in Jesus as Savior and accept what He did for us.
Tuesday - Christ's Righteousness - Jeremiah 23:5
The Bible tells us that it was by the very plan and work of God that Jesus, as the shoot of David was raised up to rule as the eternal King. The One who would reign in wisdom, justice, and righteousness. The Promise was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, to us the example of what is rightful living.
Wednesday - Childlikeness - Mark 10:15
As dearly loved children we are to live our lives in the innocence of dependency on Jesus Christ, on God the Father. We are told that if we want to be a part of the kingdom of heaven that we must receive it as a little child. A child has that tendency never to turn down a gift that is given. God gives to each of those who believe, and depend upon Him as a child, the gift of being one of His dearly (• loved children and an heir to a place within His kingdom, Heaven.
Thursday - Christ's Words - John 8:51; 14:15, 23
John continues to let us know that what Jesus had to say, His commands and teachings, were given to us so that we could live life to the full, coming to know Him as Friend, and to demonstrate our love for Him through obedience. The word of the Lord was not to be taken lightly but was given to let us know by what we will be judged in the end. What we do with the words of Jesus will determine if we will spend eternity with Him or not.
Friday - Christ's Commands - John 14:15, 21; 15:10, 14
Here again John distinctly connects the fact that love is tied together with obedience when we act upon the commands of Jesus Christ. To those who obey, fellowship with and knowledge about Jesus, Himself is given. He will reveal Himself, make Himself known, in a deeper fashion if they respond correctly to what He demands. And we see that it is a relationship of love that is over all that He commands us to do. It is obedience to the law of love, love for God and love for one another.
Saturday - Christ Indwelling - Galatians 2:20
As we continue to live in relationship with Jesus Christ, we come to understand that we have died out to the old self and are living in Christ in such intensity that it is He who lives I and through us. By faith we live out our lives to the glory of Jesus Christ and God the Father. All we do we do for the sake of the call that Jesus has given to all of us to come after Him and believe. It is no longer our selves that live but it is Christ who is doing the living; it is His will being accomplished; and it is Christ who determines our direction, for He is in control.
